MCC Bangladesh arranged a peace traing for all of its staff. There were three different sessions. My session was February 18-20 and was with 16 of my fellow MCC workers from Dhaka, Mymensingh, Siragonj, and Maijdee. Our training was held at the Agriculture University in Mymensingh, the biggest ag university in Asia. Wendy (in the pink) was the trainer, and she did an excellent job of making our time both enjoyable and informative. We talked about resolving conflict, poverty, class difference, inequality between the West and the exploited nations. It was uncomfortable talking about this inequality in the world as Ethel and I were the only ones coming from the privileged life. Though the information was not new, it was new to think about conflict in a cross-cultural way. It can be confusing when communicating/resolving conflict between cultures. My fellow co-workers deeply enjoyed the training and benefitted from it.
