Front and center

In the guyholewd the bride-to-be sat in the front of the tent on the roof of her family's home. There were lots of rituals, but the main event was the smearing of the holewd. Holewd means yellow in Bangla and it is also the name for tumeric. Everyone walked up and smeared some holewd on Lovely's forehead and she smeared some on their forehead in return. Some of the older ladies got a little carried away and were running around smearing unsuspecting people. I was just outside the tent finishing dinner, and one of the ladies came and smeared me!
