Last week I went to Rangpur where some of my colleagues are extracting indigo. After the indigo is extracted and dried in the sun, the chunks of blue are smashed between rocks until a powder appears. It is hard work, but these ladies are used to smashing spices for their curries!

Mom, you extract indigo from indigo. Indigo is a plant, indigo is a dye.
