Jackfruit

In Bangladesh the national fruit is in season. It is at least a foot long, with a strange texture (gooey and stringy), and a stinky smell. My co-workers drove 2 hours round trip (to their father's house) to acquire a jackfruit for the monthly staff meeting (it's available in front of our office). They all ate the initial plateful, but the number that wanted seconds was extremely reduced. It's my opinion that they don't really like the fruit - they just eat it for the sake of tradition. I ate some with puffed rice and help from Abir, but I have refused all offers of jackfruit since.

You remember durian from Vietnam? I think it smells much worse than jackfruit.
