After attending the beginnings of Shuporna's wedding in Jalchatra, the Shanks picked up Carolyn and I and took us to Birishiri near Natrokona to attend Phoebe's wedding. (Both Shuporna and Phoebe are MCC staff.) Phoebe works in the Dhaka office, and Shuporna works in the Jalchatra office. At Phoebe's wedding we were again treated as honored guests - usually seated right behind the bride and groom! Phoebe is also Garo, so her pre-wedding ceremony was very similar to Shuporna's except that there was no mass. We again ate chicken, pork, goat, and rice. In the evening there was a ceremony where Phoebe and her husband to be went to his home. After we ate we watched performances of singing and dance by adorable little kids. The following day was the wedding.
