Kingston, Jamaica

Arriving at the airport and catching a first glimpse of the Jamaican hills
The streets are empty and everyone is at church on Labor Day, the Friday before American Memorial Day.
The harbor in Kingston
The market was much more busy on a normal business day
Cooling off inside Mother's
Jamaican patties - full house was my favorite
The crowded, busy markets of Kingston
In Kingston we spent a few days at Joel's house - here we are on our last evening watching the traffic crawl by
Chad, Maria, and I went to Jamaica for a week in May to visit Joel who is doing SALT with MCC in Kingston. Joel met us at the airport in Kingston and took us in grand style to the MCC guesthouse by public bus. This, along with the heat and cockroaches in my bathroom reminded me of many memories that I had forgotten. We spent time getting to know the MCCers as well as Joel's host family, who lived in a fabulous house near the American embassy. Hours were spent wandering around Kingston and lounging around in Jamaican style.
