Dodging rain storms, we took a hot bus ride for 10 taka to Old Dhaka for the afternoon. Crossing the street in Gulistan took about 15 minutes. Jodi nearly got hit by a few rickshaw, and Cicely missed jumping off the curb by a fraction of a second, which meant she had to wait another 15 minutes to cross the road. Robin, Jo, and Jodi read the history of the Pink Palace, while Cicely and I lounged on the veranda and tried to avoid the mobile phone cameras of our adoring fan club until the electricity went off inside the Pink Palace and our friends had to leave because they couldn't read its history any more. We walked down Hindu Street as it is called by tourists, but apparently it doesn't get that many tourists as we got lots of stares. We bargained for conch shell bracelets, listened to Hindi music, and watched the craftsmen make harmoniums and spice grinders under a brilliant blue sky.

Did you visit the walled fort while in old Dhaka? It is always fun to be locked up in that ?mosque?? It is interesting to see the big iron gates and all the people looking your way. Fun, fun.
Hmm...and I think it is a long wait if I have to wait for 3-4 cars to cross the street here with Trevor's stroller.
