Getting off the bus one rainy night Jen and I found ourselves in Qiryat Shermone for Shabat (sabbath). We stayed at a hostel and had our dinner with a large group of Israeli soldiers who were celebrating the start of the Shabat with some energetic songs. The next morning we discovered that no buses or taxis were available. Instead of hitch-hiking (a popular method of transportation in Israel) we borrowed a car and went to Banias national park. The park was located inside the controversial Golan Heights. The Jordan river, an important water source for Israel, originates inside Mt. Hermon.
