I can't remember what was in this large spot in Muktagacha before this destruction.
Even the Baptist church in Mymensingh is being torn down. (Later I learned that the military didn't do this - they are building a larger church.)
Increasingly signs of the military rule are evident everywhere you go. First the roads appeared wider and less cluttered as the countless temporary shops that were doing business on the roadsides were all closed and removed. Now the sidewalk (meaning the concrete top of the sewer) is being shortened, store fronts are also shortened, signs not meeting regulations are being torn down, and any illegal building is being demolished. This seems like a reasonable job, tearing down illegal buildings until you see just how many buildings are being torn down. "Illegal" shoppings centers five stories high are being demolished. The streets are unrecognizableable, and you can't walk anywhere without seeing something being knocked down. Things are cleaner and more legal, but what about all those people who lost their employment?

You are right. This has to be a sad time for many who are jobless now.
That is crazy! Be safe. Stay legal.
that is crazy. I can't believe you are there. What an experience. Don't go making any illegal shopping centers now.
